Very tall, distinctive columnar lime tree in early autumn, its leaves already turning yellow-orange. A small group of three people stands in the park, two of them playing a game with rackets, all at correct scale under matching light. Photographed in a large park in Berlin.

Tilia platyphyllos:
Native to central and southern Europe, reaching into southwestern Asia. Less common in the far north than the small-leaved lime, it is widely planted across Europe — especially in Germany, France, and Central Europe — as a street and park tree, growing in deep, fertile soils.
