Two very large, majestic white poplar trees in early spring. Tender new leaves still under development — light and delicate canopy, not completely filled out. Photographed in the German region of Westphalia, by the Rhine River.

Native to North Africa, Europe, and Central Asia. Grows in moist sites, often by watersides, in regions with cold to mild winters.
