Liquidamber styraciflua. Sweetgum tree; Redgum; Star-leaved gum.
Native to warm temperate areas of eastern North America and tropical montane regions of Mexico. Planted in urban areas, parks, and gardens of most temperate regions of the globe. Its name, derived from "liquid amber", refers to the fragrant gum produced by this species.
