Medium-sized black locust tree in early spring with small tender leaves, sparse foliage, and a very light, open canopy. Photographed in East Germany.

Robinia pseudoacacia:
Native to the Appalachian and Ozark regions of the eastern United States. Widely planted across Europe — especially in France, Germany, Italy, and Central Europe — it has naturalized there and on most other continents, thriving in full sun on poor soils, along roadsides and forest edges.
